Women's FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round Review (2022/23)
A review of the results in the Women's FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round
Teams from the National League’s Northern and Southern divisions entered the FA Cup at the 3rd Qualifying Round stage, joining those lower league sides who had progressed from the previous rounds. Two teams were awarded walkovers, while three matches were abandoned and there were 14 postponements across the round, so there are still a few places in the next round up for grabs. The winner of each tie claimed £4,000, with £1,000 going to the beaten side.
The biggest margin of victory was 12-0 for both Middlesbrough and Newcastle United over Darlington and Gateshead Rutherford respectively. At the other end of the spectrum, eight matches went to penalties.
The draw for the 1st Round Proper occurred this afternoon, with National League (3rd-tier) teams entering the competition. Games are to be played the weekend of Sunday 13th November.
Congratulations especially to Consett and Mulbarton Wanderers, the two 7th-tier sides who will definitely be in the 1st Round, while Harpenden Town could also make it through when their postponed match is played. There will also be at least 11 6th-tier teams competing in this round, with several more having the chance to join them.
Highest scoring teams still in the competition:
21: Asfordby; Royston Town
20: Sedgley & Gornal United
19: Ashford United
16: Bishops Lydeard; Liskeard Athletic; Millwall Lionesses; Shrewsbury Town
15: Fleetwood Town Wrens
